Welcome to the wonderful world of acrylic paints! They are fun, versatile and easy to use when you know how. With their fast-drying nature, you can layer colours quickly. Their inherent stability means you can use creative reductive techniques like scraping back and even sanding to reveal what lies beneath to create complex and dazzling textural and colour effects.
For blending or techniques which require more time, learn how to use retarder additives and ‘slow’ mediums. Discover acrylic mediums to make fine brushwork easier or allow striking ‘wet in wet’ washes and transformative glazing effects. Build on textural foundations using gesso and modelling compounds.
Fun exercises and mini painting projects will cover the fundamentals of colour mixing, tone and form, and light and shade.
In a range of subjects from still life to skies, get to know your brushes, painting knives and more. Expand on techniques by printing leaves, embedding textured objects and other creative ways to open artistic doors!
