Tony Annese will take students in this course on an exploration of intermediate level guitar performance and theory studies. They will examine the principle guitar styles - Classical, Jazz and Contemporary - and their specific requirements, differences and commonalities. All that and experiencing the basics of improvisation and ensemble playing.
Tony Annese started on Classical guitar when he was 8 years old, and he has been a student, performer, and teacher of music and the guitar for more than 40 years. A self-taught blues/rock specialist from his teens to the present, he re-entered formal music studies at tertiary level in mid-life and found himself exploring the language of Jazz. Tony holds a Cert IV TAE 401 (Training and Assessment), Advanced Diploma of Music, Bachelor of Performing Arts and Graduate Diploma of Secondary Music Education. He has also been a private instrumental tutor for 20 years, and has played in bands across rural and urban Australia, including a 10 year stint in Melbourne where he shared the stage with members from Hunters and Collectors, Diesel and The Bad-loves, as well as playing support spots for Ross Hanaford, Debbie Byrne and Natalie Gillespie.
