Students in this course will learn the technique of raw edge applique using fusible web and decorative stitches to create a small quilt. They can choose to work by hand or machine to create the appliques. Philippa Thomas will provide a number of block patterns to use in class and home, as well as notes on decorative stitchery. Basic hand and machine quilting notes will also be included in order to complete the project. Your family and friends will be bowled over with your creativity.

Award-winning Western Australian quilter, Philippa Thomas, began quilting while she was living in Brazil in 1988. In 1990 she began teaching patchwork and quilting classes as part of the American Womens’ Association, giving courses of 8 lessons, approximately every 6 months. Between 1996 and 2011 she continued teaching, in India and the UK, then moved to Perth in 2011. Since then, she has been involved with quilting as a practitioner, administrator, judge and contributor to quilting publications. Since 1993 until now, she has been the winner of many awards including the 2012 West Australian Quilters Association (QuiltWest) 'Millennium Quilt' Mainly Applique Amateur 1st Place, 2015 West Australian Quilters' Association (Challenge) 'Half Light' on a theme ‘Illumination’, 1st Place Member's Choice Award and 1st place in the 2018 West Australian Quilters' Association (QuiltWest) ‘Beach Bum Boulevard’ in the pictorial quilt section. https://pippaquilt.blogspot.com/
