Watercolour for Beginners – Next Steps
With Renata Wright

This workshop is designed for those who have dipped their brush into the basics and are now curious about what lies just beyond. In Watercolour for Beginners – Next Steps, we build on your foundation and begin to explore the richer language of watercolour. You’ll learn how to stretch your paper for a beautifully smooth painting surface, and how to create luminous washes that flow with confidence rather than hesitation.

We’ll dive into a range of practical techniques that bring paintings to life — from the soft suggestion of distant trees to the rugged texture of rocks, and the delicate layering of foliage. It’s where your brush starts to tell more detailed stories, without losing that lovely looseness you’ve already discovered. By the end of the workshop, you’ll complete a finished landscape painting

— a piece that brings together your new skills and shows just how far you’ve come.
