In this watercolour workshop, you’ll learn how to paint insects and spiders using expressive, fluid techniques that celebrate both detail and atmosphere. We’ll explore how to suggest fine, fragile legs without stiffness, build up translucent wings with luminous layers, and mix the rich, surprising colours found in nature — from iridescent beetles to softly patterned moths.
Whether you’re drawn to a jewel-like beetle, a glowing dragonfly, or a beautifully patterned spider, you’ll create a finished painting that reveals just how intricate and extraordinary these small lives can be. Some simple drawing skills are required, along with a willingness to slow down, look closely, and notice what’s usually missed.
