Painting Flowers in Oils
With Jo Wesley

Learn to paint expressive, luminous floral artworks in this hands-on oil painting intensive. Across five structured days, you’ll build skills step-by-step—from mixing a limited palette and understanding composition, to creating studies, blocking in colour, and developing a resolved final piece.

You’ll begin with single-flower studies to explore colour, value, lighting, and wet-on-wet techniques. As the week progresses, you’ll assemble and paint your own bouquet, working from bold, high-chroma block-ins through to refined edges, subtle shifts, and thoughtful detail. Daily demos and guided practice help you understand how to simplify forms, control paint thickness, and keep your work fresh and energetic.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have completed a finished floral painting and gained a clear, repeatable process you can use in your own studio practice.
