In this course led by Angela Stewart, we will explore the dynamic in portraiture. Each student will be encouraged to develop an individual approach with different drawing techniques and in so doing enter a fascinating relationship between a portrait artist and model.

Angela Stewart is a West Australian visual artist who has pursued an interest in portraiture for more than three decades, leading her to study the history of portraiture and its contemporary practice in both her Masters and Doctorate at Curtin University, Western Australia.
Her passion has been in drawing, painting and paint/photography. She has exhibited in several solo exhibitions such as (selected); Obesience Singapore Art Fair; Geraldton Regional Gallery; Bunbury Regional Gallery 2018-19 Publicity, Tripartite artcollectiveWA, 2016, Among other things …,Perth Galleries, WA, 2013; Unlacing Carnal Margins; Portraits by Angela Stewart John Curtin Gallery; Curtin University, 2010; and 3 Women, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery 1999 and in group exhibitions; Sydney Contemporary Art Fair 2013 (artcollectiveWA); Black Swan Portrait Prize; (Eveline Kotai), 2013; (Joan London), 2008.
She has lectured for many years in major Tertiary Institutions, tutoring at Curtin University and permanent part time lecturer in painting and drawing at North Metropolitan College (Central Tafe). In 2013 she became a foundation member of artcollectiveWA.
She is in several major collections (selected) Curtin University, BHP Billington, University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, WA, BankWest, Kedumba Drawing Award, NSW and Cruther’s Collection of Women’s Art, St John of God Hospital, City of Albany. www.angelastewart.com.au
