Andy Dolphin

With a background in sign writing, graphic art and commercial illustration, Andy Dolphin brings a solid foundation in design and attention to detail to his fine art pursuits.

Working mainly in oils, Andy focuses his attention on his love of the Western Australian outdoors. His subjects range from rural landscapes to forests and seascapes but the one thing that brings them all together is sunlight. Andy is particularly interested in the moody effects of light and shadow, especially the long shadows of morning and evening, and sees each painting as a memory of a time and place.

While some works are painted in the studio, Andy loves to take his French box easel out into the field where he can paint “en plein air” and capture a scene straight from nature. Andy was selected as WA Regional Artist of the Month in July, 2020. With an increasing list of art awards to his name, Andy continues to enjoy consistent sales, and works are now held by local and interstate customers as well as buyers from the UK, USA and Asia.
