Albany Summer School Welcomes Helen Komene

20/07/2017 01:49 PM

Helen Komene is a full time pastel artist specialising in sea and landscapes and fur and family portraits. Her work has a contemporary realism and has often been described as photographic. She believes this is because she always tries to capture the transition from light and shadow to define dramatic contrasts and compositions. Helen works in soft pastels because of their velvety qualities, and she loves the way she can use her fingers to apply the pigment, working the rich and vibrant colours into paper.
